Specializing in real estate damage economics, our cases include environmental contamination, construction defects, title defects, eminent domain, geotechnical issues, natural disasters and so forth. Whether providing initial confidential consulting, written or verbal reports or expert testimony in state or Federal court, we generate clearly reasoned, presentation-friendly and thoroughly supported opinions and conclusions.

Annually, property damages total over $50 billion. Additionally, many frivolous legal claims overstate the damages. We utilize advanced methodologies to determine what impact, if any, detrimental conditions have on value. Our clients include government, oil, insurance, utilities, corporations, developers, lenders and property owners.

Landmark is led by Dr. Randall Bell. As an economist and appraiser, Dr. Bell has worked on hundreds of cases involving diminution in value, class-action lawsuits, real estate fraud, statistical regressions and other complex matters.

Dr. Bell’s cases range from a single home, to entire neighborhoods destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, the Bikini Atoll Nuclear Test Sites, the World Trade Center and Flight 93 Crash Site; the largest climate, environmental and terrorist cases in recent history. Other cases include the BP Oil Spill, Sgt. Yokoi Cave in Guam, Talum Mexico Resort, Northridge Earthquake, Hollywood Boulevard Sinkhole, LA Riots, Heaven’s Gate mass suicide mansion, as well as the OJ Simpson and JonBenet Ramsey crime scenes. His research has taken him from Chernobyl, to Hiroshima and scientific outposts in Antarctica.

For 15 years, Dr. Bell served as the CEO of Bell Anderson & Sanders LLC. Prior to this, he directed the real estate damages practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He sits on the Advisory Board of the Bureau of National Affairs in Washington, DC and holds the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute. Dr. Bell has a PhD from Fielding Graduate University and a MBA from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA. He has an undergraduate degree in finance and accounting from BYU.

With over 25 years of real estate experience, Dr. Bell’s testimony has ranged from a jury defense verdict for Chevron, to an award of over $2 billion from the Nuclear Claims Tribunal. ABC’s 20/20 stated, “An economist and appraiser, Randall Bell is the nation’s foremost expert on damaged real estate.”

Dr. Bell is the author of several books, including Real Estate Damages which is published by the Appraisal Institute.
